Sand Mountain, UTAH Dune Jumping Kyle style!!!

Just thought that I would post a quick video of my friend Kyle Smith and his buddies getting a little air time at Sand Mountain. Sand Mountain has it all from the BEST sand drag (mountain not little wimpy hill) in the country, to the best bowls and dunes to fly around and out of. Now for the jumping part!

Polaris Ranger RZR Intake upgrade

Polaris has missed the mark on the RZR with the intake system and it has been catastrophic for many owners, my father in law being one of those.  He has been through two engine rebuilds in under 800 miles, not typical of any Polaris machine. They mostly ave problems out west but anyone is at risk. The main problem is the way the chose to connect the filter, it does not stop all the dust from entering the motor causing a build up in the throttle body and what ever doesn’t stick there goes straight into the motor!!!!! There are many fixes that work well for different riding styles (mud, sand, desert silt, ect.) This is how I chose to relsove it for the type of riding we do, desert, sand, mountain trails.

I went with a KMS Performance intake I have logged  just over 600 miles with this system and have had NO DUST intrusion at all.  I have been very happy with the result.

Here is a link to purchase it. I am not affiliated with this company but they have it!

I also purchased a HOLZ Racing Products engine air vent kit to help pre filter but I have not installed it yet. Here is a link to that product also:<

Dust intrusion from the first 120 miles pre KMS intake:

Back of air box flange cut off to allow the KMS billet flange to be installed:

KMS intake flange installed I used a bead of silicone underneath it to seal it to the airbox:

Backside view bolted up, this provide a better clamping surface area:

I changed the weak worm clamps for Stainless steel hose clamps on the intake boot:

Loaded the K&N with Outerwear and clamped it to the flange and put the air box back on:

over all KMS Performance did a great job designing this product and it works great, I a very happy that i bought it!

THE LEAD BAN ON YOUTH MODEL ATV’S AND MOTORCYCLES HAS BEEN LIFTED TEMPORARILY

The vote is in: CPSC decides to stay enforcement of law banning youth-model motorcycles and ATVs.
Here is a link to the AMA story:

Malcolm Smith defies the U.S. Government

Malcolm Smith Shows Government What

He Thinks of CPSC Ban On Youth Model

ATVs And MCs

In defiance to the STUPID youth ATV ban, Malcolm Smith showed that he is a true American and stood up for his beliefs!!!

He sold machines to motorsport greats Jeff Ward, Troy Lee, and Bud Feldkamp as part of a protest at his dealership. He could receive jail them and a possible $100,000.00 fine for each of the three machines sold. Pro Circuit’s Mitch Payton, “The KING of Supercross” Jeremy McGrath, and many other showed their support to Malcolm defiance of this ridiculous law that should have never been put into affect!!

Help stop the ban on youth model OHVs

Take action now:

Help stop the ban on youth model OHVs:

The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) has effectively banned the sale of youth off-highway vehicles (OHVs) as of Feb. 10, 2009. The AMA is calling for action now to help reverse the potentially devastating effect this could have on the sport of OHV recreation.

I am very passoinate about My freedoms and this great country but sometimes if we just sit idley by our elected officials will do things that are not in our best interests and do  things that will negatively affect our way of life.

I took this info from the AMA web site, I urge and beg everyone who reads this to visit these link contact your elected officals and voice your disgust with the way this matter has been handled.

PLEASE DO YOUR PART IF YOU VALUE YOUR OFF ROAD EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!
THIS IS SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE A VERY NEGATIVE EFFECT ON ALL OFF ROADING AND OUTDOOR RECREATION!!!!
THANKS;
JUSTIN

Mayfield, Utah Arapeen Trail System

Just thought I would share all the fun we had on Labor Day weekend in Mayfield,Utah. Here is some info from the US Forest Service website: WELCOME TO THE ARAPEEN OHV TRAIL SYSTEM Check it out on the web at: www.fs.fed.us/r4/mantilasal The Arapeen OHV Trail system is located in south central Utah on the Manti-La Sal National Forest. Over 350 miles of ATV and 4X4 routes are included in the system. The backbone of the system is the scenic South Skyline Drive which is a rugged 4X4 experience for most of its 58-mile length from Utah Highway 31 on the north to the Fishlake National Forest boundary on the south. Access to the western side of the trail system occurs from Sanpete Valley and US Highway 89. Principal access points include 4X4 route #4 in Spring City Canyon, ATV route #3 in Manti Canyon, and ATV route #2 in Twelve Mile Canyon east of Mayfield. Access to the eastern side occurs from the communities of Castle Dale and Ferron which are located along Utah Highway 10. Principal access points include ATV route #5 west of Joes Valley Reservoir, ATV route #62 from Ferron Canyon, and 4X4 route #7 also located in Ferron Canyon. ATV routes shown on the Arapeen Trail System map (in green) include sections passable only by ATVs (vehicles 50” or less in width) along with other sections where ATVs share the use of Forest roads. ATV routes are also shared by horses, mountain bikes, and hikers—so please watch out for other recreationists. 4X4 routes shown on the Arapeen Trail System map (in purple) include sections passable only by high clearance four wheel drive vehicles along with other sections that may be graded or graveled roads shared with standard passenger cars. 4X4 routes are also shared by ATVs. Other Forest roads shown on the Arapeen Trail System map (in black) are open to ATV and 4X4 travel but these are generally dead end routes with no opportunity for a loop experience. All travel on the Forest is restricted to designated roads and trails. The trail system is generally open beginning in late-May although trails to high elevation areas may not be accessible until July 1st. Winter snows generally close most trails to use by early November. Individual trails are also periodically closed to protect wildlife on winter range, movement of cattle on and off the Forest, or for maintenance and reconstruction activities. These trails are being developed and maintained for your use and enjoyment through a cooperative effort between the Manti-La Sal National Forest, Utah State Parks and Recreation, Arapeen Trail Council, Goodwill Riders, and many local volunteers. Please recognize it is a privilege to use this trail system. Familiarize yourself with the signing protocol, ride within your abilities, leave the land better than you found it, and be safe!

Moab Rim, Moab, Utah

Moab rim rises up from the Colorado River and rides along the cliff edge it stops at the top to overlook all of Moab a few of the obstacles includes devils crack and the Z turns which can be very intimidating! It is very close to town and very challenging for a stock rig, although i did take my TRD Tacoma up it.

Gold Bar Rim Golden Crack, Moab, Utah

Just a few pics from Golden crack area in Moab with “Chief “. Chief’s F250 is a crawling machine and I have yet to see anything in Moab that it can conquer, although with out Chief it wouldn’t go as far! Chief’s Ford has D60’s front and rear Detroit locker in the front with a Rock Logic hydro assist, and a welded rear. He is running 37X12.50X16 Maxxis Creepy Crawler Stickies which are completely amazing!

I love to run Gold Bar Rim backwards to Golden Crack and turn around it is tons of fun. If you are feeling brave run Rusty Nail which is just a mile or so from the trail head of Gold Bar Rim and come out backward! That is if you are not afraid of heights!!!!
